Jane Austen's house in Chawton, East Hampshire




The village of Chawton is really a suburb of Alton these days. Her house is now Jane Austen's House Museum - website here. Down the road a bit are Chawton House, shown below, which was the home of Jane's successful brother Edward, and the adjacent St. Nicholas Church, shown at bottom, where Jane's mother and sister Cassandra are buried.
