A Miniature of Joan of Arc

We do not have an authentic image of Joan of Arc from her own time. There is a drawing from 1429, but we know the artist never saw Joan. Also, apparently, she sat for a portrait, but it did not survive. This medieval miniature below was painted some time between 1450 and 1500, meaning that it was several decades after her death. Notice the three saints sitting above her shoulder: they are the subject of this chapter.
