Joan of Arc's Birthplace in Domrémy
Domrémy, or as it's known these days, Domrémy-la-Pucelle, is still fairly remote, which seems to discourage most visitors. It features the house where Joan of Arc was born - shown below - which is now a museum and the ancient church next door.
Of course, it may have looked more like this (below) in earlier centuries. This illustration comes from a book by Frédéric Soulié in 1834. It shows how close L'église Saint-Rémy is to her house. Like the house the old church did not look like this in the 15th century - it has been remodeled several times over the centuries.
